If you haven't seen the film, then you probably haven't watched American television in the month of December during the past three decades. In 2011, I was invited for a private guided tour of "A Christmas Story house" to produce photos of this home and hear the stories of its' history, trivia and how the movie came to be Americana.
The house is located in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio and is now a museum. It is owned by the man who started the "Leg Lamp' manufacturing business. He loved the movie so much he bought the house, site unseen.
The house was only filmed from the outside. The interior was remodeled to look like the soundstage scenes in the film. During remodeling workers discovered the original mail box under the porch.
If you are in Cleveland, this house, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the U.S.S. Cod and Westside Market are my recommendations to be the first on your list.
