The Suwannee River is Florida's contribution to the great rivers of the world. Massive water volumes lazily flow for over 200 miles starting in the Okefonokee Swamp of southern Georgia and ending in the Gulf of Mexico. Numerous springs feed it along the way. The topic of many folk songs and immortalized by American Folk Music writer Stephen Foster. The Suwannee State Park near Live Oak, Florida is a wonderful park to camp, cabin and enjoy as a base for your paddle ventures along the central Suwannee River.
