This is the historic home of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings who was an accomplished 20th century American author. She wrote novels set in a rural Florida setting. She is best known for her book, The YEARLING, about a boy who adopts an orphaned fawn for which she was awarded the Pulitzer Price for Fiction in 1939. I came to her homesite farm near Gainesville Florida to witness the environment that so influenced her writings. She was in a league of writers I have enjoyed since my childhood. She was friends with Ernest Hemingway, Thomas Wolfe, Robert Frost and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The house is richly furnished and ornamented with her belongings. Cameras are not permitted in the home. The tour guide was very informative. A must see in central Florida. Stay in focus, John
