Welcome to John's Reflecting50for50, a collection of photo essays about interesting places to go, things to do, and people to meet.

Why the name? Well, as I approached my 50th birthday I reflected back on 40 years of photography and asked what haven't I done? Where hadn't I gone? Who or what would I have liked to photograph and did not make the opportunity? And on the morning of my birthday I set out on my first sojourn, a three day solo hike into the Grand Canyon.

This website is my legacy to you and hoping I may influence and enrich your life by suggesting something new to experience. It might be as personal as visiting a relative you have wanted to meet with but have never taken the time. Perhaps trying out a new recipe like baking a lemon soufle. Or maybe an act of wild and daring experience such as jumping out of an airplane.

Consider...dream...and then plan to renew yourself! Step out of the decadence of comfort in a sublime life. Experience what you have not tried before and introduce yourself to something or someone new.

Hello, my name is John C. Karjanis and I live on Florida's Space Coast across the river from Kennedy Space Center. I worked as a portrait photographer, commercial photographer and photojournalist during my high school and military service years. Then as an official photographer for HOOTERS of America, photographing heavenly bodies for commercial advertising and restaurant promotions. In addition, I was the primary portrait photographer to the U.S. Astronaut Scholarship Foundation and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. Today, I enjoy photography as my passion and creative expression with a concentration on medical, portrait, rocket launch and travel photography.
